First, let’s be clear, freebies are not free,  you are part of the less than 1% that have served in our countries armed forces and the businesses are thanking you for your sacrifices. Be sure to thank them for their support.  Also, if a business isn’t advertising a discount, ask if they offer one.

Numbers matter, by using the discounts or other services you are helping to ensure those programs remain available to those that follow. Not using them increases the likelihood they will be discontinued. This is especially true of any grant funded programs. If they can’t show the numbers then they won’t continue to be funded.  For instance, when travelling be sure to stop by the airport USO and sign in even if just to thank the volunteers.

Be aware of any offer that requires payment to receive benefits. Business that are offering discounts may require ID but should never require membership or payment.
